Martian Astrology - A scientific outlook:

Martian baby Astrology
aadri astrology blog image

The day is not far when a child will be born outside of our planet earth. He or She may be born on our moon, International Space Station (ISS) or even on planet Mars. Who knows? But when this happens, will astrology work on such a baby? Will that life be governed by the laws and principles of astrology? Are we capable of making astrological predictions for such a life? And if so, the most important question is “how”?
Astrology as a framework will definitely work on any life born anywhere may it be on our moon, International Space Station (ISS) or planet Mars. Currently we only need astrology for life born on earth. But when times comes that life ventures out of earth, so will astrology also.
Let us single out various threads of astrology and diagnose them one by one. Earth Astrology is a play of Planets (9 nos.), Rashi (12 nos.), House (12 nos.) and Nakshatras (27 nos.).

Before we dig deeper, let us understand astrology in a few sentences.

  • Any life is an impression (photo) of heavenly bodies (planets) at the time of birth (when the first puff of air goes inside the baby).

Life thereafter is a unique interaction of the original photo and current positioning of those heavenly bodies (planets).

Planet (Earth) on which we are born is the base. Rashi (12 nos.), House (12 nos.) and Nakshatras (27 nos.) are all developed from base planets and hence we DON'T see earth in list of our 9 astrological planets.

Impact of any heavenly body is based on a combination of distance and size. Think of it in terms of Sir Isaac Newton’s universal law of gravitation (F=Gm1m2/r2). Moon is small in size as compared to other planets but is very near to earth and hence has the most impact.

We see planets from our perspective against a fixed backdrop (Rashi). This perspective depends on the base planet and location (coordinate i.e., latitude and longitude) on that planet.

Now let us jump in deep understanding and assume that a child is born on planet Mars. Let’s develop “Martian Astrology”.

  1. Planets: For “Martian Astrology”, we will consider the following planets. Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Moon 1 of Mars, Moon 2 of Mars, Rahu 1 for Mars, Rahu 2 for Mars, Ketu 1 for Mars, Ketu 2 for Mars. That makes total of 12 planets for “Martian Astrology” instead of 9 planets for “Earth Astrology”.
WOW. Wait a minute. What happened here.
We have our usual suspects i.e., Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn, however let me explain the remaining.
Since, Mars is the base for “Martian Astrology” hence it is NOT included in the list. Earth on the other hand will be visible from Mars and hence makes an appearance in the list.
Mars has two moons. Hence, instead of 1 moon for earth, we have Moon 1 and Moon 2 for Mars.
Rahu and Ketu are mathematical points based on orbital interaction of Sun and Moon. Since Mars has 2 moons, interaction of each moon will result in 2 Rahu and 2 Ketu. In simple words, the interaction of the Sun with Moon 1 will have Rahu 1 and Ketu 1. Interaction of Sun with Moon 2 will have Rahu 2 and Ketu 2.
Since Mars is close to Jupiter and Saturn, their impact on “Martian Astrology” will be significant. We can extend the same logic to other planets.
This covers the list of 12 planets for “Martian Astrology”.

  1. Rashis: Rashis are distant star constellations which are so far away from our solar system that they seem fixed to us for tens of thousands of years. They are like a fixed backdrop for our solar system. So, for “Martian Astrology” the number of Rashi will remain the same as it is.
However, since we have changed the perspective from Earth to Mars, a planet which might seem to be in Aries sign from earth may now seem to be in Taurus sign from Mars.
  2. Houses: Houses are 12 aspects of a person’s life. Hence, they will remain fundamentally the same but technically there will be things to consider to adapt for “Martian Astrology”.
In vedic view, we consider 12 houses of 30 degrees each. So, if we consider the same concept, there will be no change in house size and calculation for Mars.
However, for other systems like KP, Koch etc, we will need to divide Mars in latitude and longitude (like we do on earth) and apply the same principles for various house systems as we do on earth.
  3. Nakshatras: Nakshatras are sectors on the orbit of the moon. On earth, our moon takes 27.3 days to complete its orbit. Hence, we consider 27 nakshatras (in some texts 28). We consider each nakshatra as 13.33 degrees (i.e., 360/27 = 13.33).
On Mars we have two moons named Phobos (Moon 1) and Deimos (Moon 2) with orbital periods of just 7.66 hours and 30.35 hours.
While the diameter of Earth’s moon is 3,475 km, the diameter of Phobos is 22.2 km and diameter of Deimos is 12.6 km only.
While the semi major of Earth’s moon is 3,84,400 km, the semi major of Phobos is 9,377 km and of Deimos is 23,460 km.
If we compare, while the size of Mars’s Moons are significantly smaller than Earth’s Moon, the distance is also significantly closer.
The Moon is by far the fastest & closest planet in astrology and consequently the most important one.
From the above analysis, one thing is for sure, that life on Mars will be very interesting and happening.

In conclusion, with Mars’s Moons being very close and fast moving, Mars shall truly be the place for all those party animals out there.
Hope that many conventional astrological boundaries were broken during this reading.
Aim of writing this article was to break the stereotypical outlook and present astrology as a law of science (that it actually is!!!).
