Details of basic Pooja Viddhi
Most of us do pooja at home on daily basis but we feel that we don't get the desired results out of pooja. Well that is true as we don’t follow the correct method of doing pooja. This is an attempt to make whatever pooja we do, more potent and to yield desired results.
Choosing correct ashan is the first step to preserve the power generated during pooja. Ashan should be of 3 layers as per Bhagwat Geeta ‐ base of Cotton, followed by deer/lion/tiger skin and finally kambal. Animal skin (if used), should have died out of natural causes, hunted animal skin gives significant negative energy. In lieu of animal skin, thick middle layer of Kambal can be used.
Ashan of rubber, plastic, commercially available yoga mat, synthetic fabric are WORST kind.
Ashan For Pooja
1) White kambal on Kusha (A type of Grass)
2) White kambal on Druwa (A type of Grass)
3) For vasikaran use Red ashan instead of white
4) Cloth ashan gives daridrata (Poorness)
5) Rock ashan gives Roog (Disease)
6) Bhumi ashan gives dukha (un‐happiness)
7) Wooden ashan gives no result of pooja
8) Kambal ashan gives Siddhi
9) Deer skin ashan gives knowledge
10) Darbhasan ashan gives knowledge
11) Lion/Tiger skin ashan gives Mukti
Many people have questions regarding the facing direction while doing pooja. While some say that it should be as per God you are worshiping, while others say many different kind of things. Actually, as per authentic texts, facing is decided as per result that you desire out of pooja. Once ashan is correct, facing will help realise the intended benefit of pooja.

North East for Gyan (Knowledge)

If done at home, care should be taken that pooja should be done at same place daily and on same ashan. We must not share ashan with anyone.
